Swede Fest 14 wrap-up

And just like that, another Swede Fest is behind us. You helped us pack The Tower Theatre with over 500 people to watch 26 awesome entries. If you didn’t make or just want to relive the magic, you can check out all the entries right here. We’d like to thank everyone who submitted because without you, this festival would simply not exist! We’d also like to thank our sponsors that make Swede Fest possible. Fresno Filmworks, The Tower Theatre, Geekwise Academy: without your help this event would not be what it is today, thank you so much. Our volunteers: without you, the event would not run so smoothly so thanks to Alexa, Chloe, Thong, Juan, and Luis. For people that have been asking, the awesome poster design was done by Kirk James. If you are interested in volunteering and helping Swede Fest become cooler, please drop us an email at info@swedefest.com and we’ll get in touch. Thanks again and be sure to start thinking about YOUR entry for Swede Fest 15, coming in 2015.

Swede Fest X – That’s a wrap!

Thanks to everyone who created a swede and who came out for our 10th installment of Swede Fest. We had an estimated 500 people in attendance, our biggest event yet, and we couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out. We hope you were entertained and, more importantly, inspired to create your own sweded film. And speaking of that, Swede Fest 11 is coming May 2013, so start brainstorming and stocking up on cardboard now! In the meantime, we’ll be uploading all the films from Swede Fest X here on the website soon!  You might also check out what’s going on our with our sister Swede Fests in Tampa Bay and Palm Beach. Get swedin’!

What is Swede Fest?

Swede Fest is the only film festival dedicated to sweded films. A sweded film is a summarized, low-budget recreation of a popular movie, starring you! The term comes from the 2008 film “Be Kind Rewind” directed by Michel Gondry, and in his words: “[Your film] doesn’t have to be good, it’s not a competition. It’s for people to make a movie and watch it.” That’s Swede Fest. The festival started in California but has grown to receive submissions from as far as the UK, France, Spain and Australia! Swede Fest happens every six months in Fresno, California and Tampa, Florida. If you’re interested in starting a Swede Fest in your area, contact us!
